London-based artist Chaidura wrestles with inner demons in his latest track, Addiction, released February 20. The heavy new track will also release on the upcoming EP LIMINAL this June.
Addiction blends influences from visual kei, emo, and alternative metal; the outcome is a blood-pumping, emotive track. The lyrics behind Addiction confront the idea of our own personal hell created by an addiction of self-judgment.
Alongside the new single, Chaidura also wrote a heartfelt and encouraging message to listeners via Instagram:
If you’re struggling to reach your own version of “Heaven” right now because you keep tripping over the same sins, this song is for you. Maybe the cure isn’t more willpower. Maybe it’s just finally being easy on yourself.
A visualizer for Addiction released later, on February 27.
If you like what you hear in Addiction, consider checking out the previous single, Heaven, released November 28. Exploring the same themes of self-growth, the sentimental lyrics of Heaven emphasize the importance of self-love. The accompanying music video, featured below, showcases how Chaidura’s visual and performative style aligns with his powerful music.
Both Addiction and Heaven will be featured on the upcoming five-track EP LIMINAL this June. Each track of the EP will be released as a single, so expect more of Chaidura’s thought-provoking lyrics and captivating musical arrangements in the near future. The title LIMINAL relates to an in-between state, the person you were and the person you aspire to become. The two currently released singles from the EP align with this theme, providing listeners with an engrossing and healing musical experience.
Marking the release of LIMINAL, Chaidura is also undergoing a UK tour in June titled LIMINAL BEGINNING. Chaidura hopes to create a space âwhere we can all connect for a truly unforgettable, spiritual experienceâ. Check below for tour details:
