DIR EN GREY closed out their domestic tour, TOUR25 EN’EN (蜿蜒), with a major announcement: their 12th full-length album, MORTAL DOWNER, is set for release in 2026.
In our interview with guitarist Die earlier this year, he hinted that the band was already recording new material, but this marks the first official confirmation of the upcoming record. MORTAL DOWNER marks DIR EN GREY’S first new release since their 2024 single, The Devil In Me.
Alongside the album announcement, the band revealed two major live projects scheduled for 2026. The first is a new domestic tour, TOUR26 Downer Absolutely No One, a 12-date run launching on April 14 and wrapping on May 23. The first round of fan club raffle presales began on Thursday, December 11.
DIR EN GREY then returns to Tokyo Garden Theater for a special two-night event on July 18 and 19. The shows, collectively titled MORTAL DOWNER, share their name with the forthcoming album. With a capacity of nearly 7,000 people, Tokyo Garden Theater provides a landmark setting to usher in the new album era.
Further details on the album are expected in the coming months.
