PSYCHO SONIC BOOM is the solo project of kairu, a Tokyo-based California-born veteran of the indie visual kei scene. With activity dating back to 2005, he is a multi-instrumentalist who has been active in a multitude of projects both on stage and behind the scenes. He is the leader and lead guitarist of visual kei band XAVAK which released its first single MADNESS REEL earlier this year.

CHIMERA which was released on July 5, is the second full-length album from PSYCHO SONIC BOOM following the release of DESTRUCTOTRON in December 2021. CHIMERA’s sixteen tracks fuse a myriad of influences and backgrounds with lyrics in both English and Japanese. Although PSYCHO SONIC BOOM’s previous release contained only English lyrics, nine of CHIMERA’s sixteen tracks are in Japanese. Conversely, three tracks; THE MISSING DEAD, FETUS, and KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN are English remakes of songs released by En’Cell~Dis’Dein, kairu’s previous band.

CHIMERA is a moody album that includes both 7-string and 6-string guitars in multiple tunings and was entirely self-produced and recorded, down to the cover art, by kairu himself.
