Arlequin’s singles Sekai no Owari to Yoake Mae, Siren, and its complete edition compiling the title tracks, B-sides, and more, simultaneously releases on August 25. Despite still being a ways off, it hasn’t stopped the band from revealing their music video for the anthemic piano-driven rock number Sekai no Owari to Yoake Mae.
The visuals find a blindfolded vocalist Aki singing out on an antique furnished set and the band performing under spotlights as colorful visuals play on the screen behind them. It’s simple but compelling!
One set of scenes sees vocalist Aki blindfolded as he wallows in solitude on an antique furnished study room-like set. In other scenes, the band performs under respective spotlights and the surrounding ones flash while abstract and fluid visuals play on the screen behind them.
What makes it even more compelling is Aki singing with striking clarity that resonates throughout, making for a powerful performance in this bright-sounding composition. He also keeps eye contact with the camera, and that, combined with his eye makeup and gold tears, it feels as if the words being sung are piercing through your soul. It’s impossible not to mention how the anthemic chanting and brilliant piano work elevates the piece to grandiose proportions.
Ecstatic emotions overflow from beginning to end turning it into a journey well worth the watch!
