Now that we’ve had a few weeks to listen to POLKADOT STINGRAY’s album Nanimono, released on December 16, the band has revealed the music video for the jazzy second track, FICTION.
Vocalist Shizuku walks into a studio wearing an amazingly fancy kimono before performing with the band on a neon city-themed set and the brass section going all out. These sets that Shizuku appears in, alongside a different band member and outfits, are ever-changing and are slowly revealed as the camera pivots.
Shifting into the yellow set seeing Shizuku and bassist Yuki Uemura in classy suits and tie, we’re then moved onto the relaxing turquoise set featuring drummer Kazuma Mitsuyasu that focuses on sportswear. Finally, the blue set bringing her and guitarist Ejima Harushi together in white and airy clothing, each set is a movie in itself and has its own wonderfully distinct feel throughout the video.
The album Nanimono was chosen by our Co-founder and Editor-in-chief edoh+ in our staff picks for 2020 who said “It’s like drinking cool water and just feels nice any time of the day”. Definitely check it out if you haven’t already!
