DIR EN GREY’s latest release, the best-of album VESTIGE OF SCRATCHES, is now weeks before its release, and as such the band has given fans a closer look into what to expect from this album with three trailer videos. These videos are only about a minute long each, but they are enough to raise the hype without fail. January 2 is the day this album finally drops.
For those who need a reminder, this album collected 44 songs, selected by fans, spanning from their first indies mini album MISSA, released in 1997, to Utafumi, released in 2016. The songs will be re-mastered and three songs, Fukai, THE IIID EMPIRE, and Beautiful Dirt will be re-recorded.

The three videos differ quite a bit from each other, especially the third, special commemorative video, which features cute animated monsters playing DIR EN GREY songs as one comes out from another monster’s mouth in succession, before getting eaten by the yellow monster representing Kyo. The first trailer shows images from their live performances, and the second snippets from what seem to be new music videos for some of the songs.
The band’s new look is also visible above, and we can see most of the members with new haircuts, most notably Toshiya and Kaoru, who now sport shorter styles than those they had at the beginning of the year.
