MIYAVI has announced the release of a new album Samurai Sessions Vol.2, the continuation of one of his most diverse and experimental albums. The full album will be released on November 8, but you can already get a taste of the first track of this album, Dancing With My Fingers featuring Daichi Miura by previewing or downloading on iTunes.
Just like the first volume, Samurai Sessions Vol.2 is an album full of promising collaborations between MIYAVI and a set of talented artists. This includes the participation of acts from the Japanese pop scene such as SKY-HI or EXILE SHOKICHI; veteran rock legends HYDE from VAMPS and KenKen from LIFE IS GROOVE; Masato of metalcore band coldrain; rappers VERBAL and CHANMINA; and last but not least Che’Nelle, a multicultural artist who fuses pop, reggae, rap and dancehall into her music.
The digital edition will include a new version of the beautiful track Long Nights, taken from MIYAVI’s latest album Fire Bird. This new arrangement will include a collaboration with Sonita Alizadeh, an Afghan refugee, rapper and activist. Sonita gained attention with her song Brides for Sale, where she describes how daughters are sold into marriages in her country after experiencing it herself. Later on, her life was documented on the film Sonita. Inspired after listening to her story of hardship in person, MIYAVI invited her to collaborate on his new album.
