LIPHLICH had already announced that they would be releasing a new album in summer, almost immediately after dropping their July single, Youki na Noir. Now the long wait for more details is finally over! On September 13, LIPHLICH released their stunning new look for the album, along with the CD jacket, full tracklist, and price.

CLUB FLEURET, which goes on sale October 11, contains 12 newly written songs; that means no reincorporated singles. There appears to only be a single regular version to the album, however, as it is customary for LIPHLICH, they offer a wide range of interesting store-specific bonuses for most, if not all of the established Japanese music stores. The CD is already available for preorder! If your heart desires it, it will cost you 3240 yen, tax included.

LIPHLICH are known to rely heavily on the conceptual nature of their work—this album seems to be no exception. They are definitely letting us know what kind of a club their CLUB FLEURET is, with this elegant yet undeniably naughty new concept. Check out the sparkly marvel down below!

LIPHLICH’s look for CLUB FLEURET

The album cover, depicting four fencing swords piercing a heart, has been created by Tsuguki, drummer of the band Dolly and owner of a brand of apparel named @tree works.

According to the band’s vocalist Kuga, for this album, he was drawn to the image of a fleuret, the fencing sword, for a couple of reasons. The sword in itself has always been a symbol of faith and conviction for both Japanese samurai and European knights, and for a band, their releases are much like their swords; a symbol of conviction and faith. If those are broken, everything is over. Additionally, unlike a Japanese katana, the French fleuret is not well suited for slashing, its strength is focused into a single stabbing point, and while it looks fragile and like it could break any second, it’s flexible and does not break.

Unfortunately, it seems that we will still have to wait some more to be graced with any audio or video previews. We’ll keep you updated! For now, let us know whether you’re excited for the album, and how you like the adventurous look!
