Two of our personal favourite new finds this year, DAOKO and Kenshi Yonezu, have collaborated to produce a new song titled Uchiage Hanabi (打上花火), for an upcoming anime film with the same name. The title translates to “Fireworks”, and was previously a live action film released over two decades ago back in 1993, titled “Uchiage Hanabi, Uekara Miruka Shitakara Miruka?” directed by Shunji Iwai.
The song is written, composed, and produced by the singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu, with both DAOKO and himself singing in the music video below. The song has been released as her third single on August 16 and is available in two versions. The limited edition contains a DVD with a huge 19 tracks; a bumper crop of her previous works including ME!ME!ME!, Boy and BANG! BANG!.
