amazarashi announced back in January that the next single release would be a collaboration with the game NieR:Automata. A game that takes place in a dark and distant future, where mankind is forced to flee to the moon to create machines, in hopes to fight back the sudden alien invasion. It is not however until recently we’ve finally been able to enjoy the offspring of this unexpected, yet excellent collaboration! The latest music video Deserving of Life (Inochi ni Fusawashii) which features 200 creepy ball-jointed dolls being brutally massacred was made available on amazarashi’s YouTube channel. To date, it has already garnered more than 300 thousand views in less than a week!
In recent years, amazarashi has been focusing on blending technology and music to seek out new ways of expressing emotions to its fullest. It only makes sense that these guys were given the opportunity to collaborate with Square Enix’s NieR:Automata, as the story revolves around a dark and depressing future with machines being the center of the focus. Those who are familiar with the protagonist of the game “YoRHa No.2 Type B” (or “2B” for short), she made a cameo appearance at the very end of the music video in form of a doll.
Deserving of Life is available for purchase starting February 22, a day before the release of the game itself. If you have not yet caught the demo play on Playstation 4, you should definitely give it a try! A lot of classic Japanese game elements can be found in this game. Those who get the limited edition of the single will be granted a code to receive downloadable content of an amazarashi head, this replaces the original look of 2B’s hovering pod as seen below.
