S!N (pronounced sin) will release his major debut single, Salvation, on June 29. He recently announced the details of the single, including a preview of the music video for the title track. It’s quite good; definitely give it a play or four!
S!N is an emerging artist who managed to gain quite a reputation for himself between 2014 and now. At the start of his career, as an independent artist, he mostly held sold out concerts around Japan. Until now, most of his activities weren’t publicized, yet he became a person of interest by word of mouth, via the online community. As of April 3, he’s been touring around Asia, selling out venues in Japan, and making his overseas debut in China (in Shanghai and Hong Kong). Soon, on June 29, he will make his long-awaited major debut under Universal Music Japan’s new sub-label, UNIVERSAL-W.
Here’s a bit more detail about the single. The music video’s (the CG effects in the video remind me of a cutscene straight out of a Square Enix video game) producer, WAKAME (Eishi Hasegawa), has produced videos for bands such as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and indigo la End. Art director and graphic designer, Ryotaro Kawashima, whose previous works include designs for Kinoco Hotel, Nothing’s Carved in Stone and Superfly, is responsible for the very cool jacket art. The second track, Mes, is said to encapsulate a variety of genres, such as emo and dubstep, and is co-produced by TSUGE: an ex-member of LIL.
