The instrumental rock unit from Kyushu ASTERISM will perform in the US for the first time since 2019. The trio is scheduled to make three stops, beginning with appearances at the colossal Anime Expo (AX) in Los Angeles on July 1 and 2. The tour continues with concerts in Santa Ana, California and New York City.

ASTERISM formed in 2014 when guitarist HAL-CA, then 11 years old, met brothers MIO on drums and MIYU on bass at a music competition. Together, they released their first EP The Session Vol. 1 in 2017. Since then, the trio developed a reputation for their intricate, technical, and virtuosic displays in the studio and on stage.

Last September, ASTERISM released mini album Animetic, which features nine cover tracks of popular anime theme songs. In a recent interview with TV program J-Melo on Japan’s public channel NHK, HAL-CA declared she’d like to try out these tunes for overseas audiences. MIO and MIYU nodded in agreement.

Although there have been no specific announcements on the AX setlist, a sampling of the Animetic tracks would be a wonderful treat for the con attendees.

On the heels of Animetic, ASTERISM followed up in March with a five-track EP ASIDE, a collection of all original compositions. Adding a fresh element, HAL-CA penned lyrics and took on the role of lead vocalist for all five songs. Check out the official music video for the opener Fiction!

ASTERISM - Fiction

ASTERISM categorizes itself as “MASS METAL” meaning a form of “metal that reaches, resonates, and is loved by the masses”. Let’s wish these hard-working prodigies the best of luck as they head overseas with their unique and ever-impressive brand of rock!
