Originally released in 1998, winter fall was L’Arc~en~Ciel’s first-ever number-one single on Oricon charts, as well as being the first single with drummer yukihiro officially in the band. 23 years later after it’s release, Matenrou Opera’s vocalist, Sono, records a vocal cover and leaves us with a short message about how this song holds a place in his heart.

From within the many famous tracks that L’Arc~en~Ciel have produced, I covered the one I have sung the most – “winter fall”.
I love songs about snow and winter, but I feel like this song really conveys that snow-blanketed scenery. Lots of harmonies this time round, too.—Sono

Perfect for a cold day, right? Here’s the original if you’ve not heard it yet. Whilst we’ve mentioned L’Arc~en~Ciel, a small bird has reminded us that they’ll be celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, so more information on that soon.
