SLOTHREAT will release its first album THEMIS in physical and digital formats on September 25—their first release on “Wolves anchor DC”, the new record label by ex-girugamesh Ryo.

The 10-track album includes their previously released digital single Daybreak and Mukurouta taken from Jinkouhi no Valhalla, their split live-limited single with nekomanju. Said songs will be re-recorded, remixed, and remastered for the album and comes packaged with an instrumental version of the CD. You can currently preorder it from their online shop with the CD alone or bundled with a black or white T-shirt that has the album art on it.

The band has left a comment about the album title, CD cover design, and what fans can expect from the release:

The album title “THEMIS” is drawn from the goddess of law, order, and justice, but also something that expresses our belief in music’s “absolute justice and conviction”.

Nagoya based artist and designer, kyogudrddd provided the artwork for this release, and by putting a “street” twist on the album concept, this is the resulting design.

“THEMIS” is, of course, not just something for heavy music fans, but a work that reaches wide and deep, the kind of omniscient, omnipotent masterpiece that this era demands.

You may also realize that the band now consists of five members, instead of the original four as it was announced back in June that support drummer SHINYA would become an official member. Whilst we are talking about the members, it turns out the two guitarists Takaya and Katsuya are brothers.

Now, to dig deeper into the new music label Wolves anchor DC, in a joint interview between Ryo and Katsuya, Ryo expressed that he initially considered and intended to work with Katsuya’s solo project, Misanthropist, as he had faith in it. As time passed, SLOTHREAT formed, and discussions continued—leading to the decision to support the band through his label.

In the same interview, Katsuya reveals that he came up with the name “Wolves anchor DC” and explains the meaning behind it. Originally, it was a name he was going to use for his own work, but strong desires to join the label developed and so he ended up proposing the name to Ryo. He expresses that Ryo, himself, and many others are lone wolves in life and understand the pains of being one. The word “anchor” refers to that of a boat, so with that in mind, he wants similar people to have their own place to come to, hence the name.

With so much consideration and thought behind each detail in the project, we forecast that THEMIS is definitely one to look out for, especially after they released their brilliant mini-album Allium last year.
