Closing in on another release milestone, BUCK-TICK announced their 39th single MOONLIGHT ESCAPE, expanding their already colossal discography with this addition on August 26.
Once again, BUCK-TICK has gravitated towards the theme of the moon with its regular appearance amongst their previous song titles; from Moon Sayonare wo Oshiete in 2018 to DIZZY MOON from their 1990 Aku no Hana album. This single will include two new songs with lyrics written by vocalist, Sakurai Atsushi, while lead guitarist, Imai Hisashi, takes on the composition of the title track, and guitarist, Hoshino Hidehiko, commands composition of B-side track, Kogoeru.
Alongside the single release details, the band also presented their new look for the single concept. BUCK-TICK displays a sleek and minimalistic style in a parade of suited attire, and a relatively subdued blue-haired look from the usual eccentric style of Imai Hisashi.
Originally, BUCK-TICK had announced in their schedule for 2020 a summer album release and proceeding promotional tour in the fall. Already, their release schedule has been delayed due to the restrictions of COVID-19. Preparations for MOONLIGHT ESCAPE first began after the release of their last single Datenshi in January but were consequently halted due to the pandemic. Proceeding into the future, it is unclear if the album release will be postponed along with the tour as the current COVID-19 restrictions are still causing uncertainty in the future of the live music industry.
Although, for now, we have a physical release to anticipate that is a hopeful certainty in our future. The single will be available in two forms—a regular CD-only edition, and a limited edition CD and DVD or blu-ray combination, allowing the inclusion of the MOONLIGHT ESCAPE music video alongside the two tracks.
