After performing in Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and before the final show in France, we spoke to MORRIGAN after their performance in Amstelveen, the Netherlands on November 12. After the crowd spent the whole cold and rainy day outside, opening acts VII ARC and BatAAr warmed them up before it was MORRIGAN’s time to shine on the stage of P60. Shortly after the amazing performance, we were invited backstage to talk to the band. In this interview, we ask them questions to test their personalities, what they think of each other, and find out just how much Setsuna likes curry. Read on to find out!
First of all, please introduce yourselves.
ARYU: I’m the vocalist ARYU.
Setsuna: I’m the drummer Setsuna.
Kuloe: I’m the bassist Kuloe.
How did you guys meet each other?
ARYU: We met in the Underworld.
You’re almost at the end of your first Europe tour! Is it different from how you expected it to be?
Setsuna: We’re getting the reaction we expected. It’s great.

That’s good to hear!
How did the decision to tour Europe come about in the first place?
ARYU: We were led by the devil. [Points at V STAR staff]
Is there anything Japanese that you miss while you’re touring here?
Setsuna: Food.
Kuloe: Japanese people.
How about something European that you would like to bring back to Japan?
ARYU: European people.
Kuloe: Kebab.
Setsuna: Architecture.
What did you guys do during the long flight and bus trips during this tour?
Setsuna: We watched movies on the plane. What did we do on the bus…? Ah, we played on the PS3!
It seems like you guys have also been studying a bit of English. What would you like to say to the fans in the language?
ARYU: “Motherfucker!”
[Everyone laughs]
Kuloe: “Have a nice day.”
Setsuna: “I like curry.”
Some fans started a project and recorded videos for the furitsuke (this is a hand dance choreography specific to Visual Kei shows). Did you expect that?
Setsuna: No, that was unexpected.
Did the European fans do it well?
Setsuna: So-so.
What is the biggest challenge as a band?
Kuloe: [In a very serious tone] To fight against God.
[Everyone laughs]
If you were not in a band, what do you think you’d be doing?
Kuloe: If I was not a band member…
ARYU: Acting for The Walking Dead.
Setsuna: Hmm… Make curry.
Setting up for the Paris show.
Next, we have a situation for each member, and we’d like to know how you’d react.
Setsuna, you bought your favorite curry and put it on the table to eat later. Not long after, you see that another member is eating it. What would you do?
- Tell him that it’s yours and ask to give it back so you can eat whats left.
- Tell him that it’s yours and that he should buy you a new one now.
- You’ll remember this and plan to steal his favorite food next time as revenge.
- You don’t mind and ask him if it’s good.
Setsuna: Number 2.
Kuloe, while performing on stage, your outfit rips. What would you do?
- You notice but pretend as if nothing happened.
- You notice and go off-stage to get it fixed/change clothes asap.
- You notice and show it off by ripping it more.
- You don’t even notice it.
Kuloe: (he answers before the question gets translated) Number 3.
[Everyone laughs]
ARYU, one day you wake up with blue skin. What would you do?
- You’d think it’s cool and take many selfies.
- You’d panic, try to wash it off under the shower and call a doctor.
- You stay at home and search on the internet for cures.
- You run outside to turn other people blue too.
ARYU: I’ll become Yondu.
[Everyone laughs]
Yondu Udonta is a blue-skinned fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The original version of the character is depicted as the last survivor of his species in the 31st century and is a founding member of the original Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s well known by fans that ARYU loves Marvel and ARYU searched for images of the character on his phone to show us:
Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy II.
Now, we would like for other members to answer some questions about each other.
Setsuna comes home and finds a cat he doesn’t own. What would he do?
Kuloe: Setsuna? Setsuna’s reaction… He will search for the owner.
The band is sitting around the table eating oranges. Kuloe is the first to take a bite. It tastes sour like lemons. The other members ask how it tastes, what would he say?
V STAR: He would probably eat a banana. He eats so many bananas.
Setsuna: He would be honest and say it’s sour.
ARYU notices that someone has their pant zipper undone. What would he do?
[Everyone laughs]
Setsuna: He would close it!
Pitty finds 100 yen on the floor, what would he do?
(Setsuna pretends to be Pitty, picks up the coin, looks around and runs away)
Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to fans who attended this tour?
Setsuna: We’ll come again!
Kuloe: We’ll meet again!
ARYU: What to say… Dickhead!
