The latest work to come from supercell was recently revealed in a form of a trailer (“opening movie”) by Square Enix, the game company behind big franchises such as Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. In this case, supercell’s new single “Great Distance” was accommodated for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS RPG game “Bravely Second” – which is the sequel to Bravely Default.
What’s unusual for this release is that vocalist chelly – from supercell’s alter ego group EGOIST – is taking the spotlight, rather than the main vocalist Koeda. This is the first time chelly had the opportunity to expose her voice under the main group supercell. All her previous work has been labeled as EGOIST which mainly produces music in a certain pop/rock electronic flavor, thus I’m personally looking forward hearing more of her soothing voice in other environments like this!
While we’re on it, there’s actually one more unusual matter to this case. The illustrations to the promotion art and CD cover (as seen in the image above) was illustrated by the mangaka Shirow Miwa. Usually Redjuice who is a part of the supercell group dominates that role, but it seems like this was an exception.
Supercell’s new upcoming single “Great Distance” will be available to pick up on May 20.
